| 1 September | Fishing season opening The fishing ban is lifted and boats head out to sea. The first fresh bonito at the harbor reaches the stalls these days. It counts as Amasra's own holiday. |
| 17 October | Anniversary of the Conquest of Amasra The day commemorating Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror's capture of the city in 1460. Ceremonies and events at the castle and the harbor. |
| 15 April | Start of the fishing ban Large boats do not go out to sea and the variety on the stalls drops. For fish you have to wait for September. |
Public holidays and commemoration days
Fixed-date public holidays fall on the same day every year. On holidays there is an influx of visitors to Amasra; it pays to book accommodation early.

| 1 May | Labor and Solidarity Day An ideal week for a spring trip. The Galla Market stalls fill with seasonal greens. |
| 19 May | Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day Ceremonies and youth events on the shore. The eve of the sea season; the first brave swimmers take a dip this week. |
| 15 July | Democracy and National Unity Day Commemorative programs are held. The town is at its summer peak; on the holiday the beaches and bazaar are busy. |
| 30 August | Victory Day Official ceremony and celebrations along the shore. It falls in the same week as the City Festival. |
| 28–29 October | Republic Day The holiday starts on the afternoon of October 28; on October 29 a ceremony and torchlight parade. It is in the same month as the conquest anniversary — October is Amasra's month of ceremonies. |
| 10 November | Atatürk Memorial Day It is not a public holiday. A minute of silence at 09:05 to the sound of sirens; boats in the harbor join in with their horns. |
Religious holidays — 10-year calendar (2026–2035)
The dates of Ramadan and Kurban Bayram move forward 10–12 days every year. The table below follows Diyanet's astronomical calculation method; Ramazan Bayramı is a 3-day and Kurban Bayramı a 4-day public holiday, and the days before them (arefe) count as holidays from the afternoon.
