{"id":9377,"date":"2014-12-21T15:37:31","date_gmt":"2014-12-21T13:37:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/amasra.com.tr\/?p=9377"},"modified":"2016-02-07T12:20:03","modified_gmt":"2016-02-07T10:20:03","slug":"why-amasra-does-not-want-a-thermal-power-plant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amasra.com.tr\/en\/amasra-neden-termik-santral-istemiyor\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Amasra Doesn&#039;t Want a Thermal Power Plant!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Why Don&#039;t the People of Amasra and Bart\u0131n Want a Thermal Power Plant?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>Grounds for objection to thermal power plant<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The problems that will arise as a result of the construction of the thermal power plant will cause irreparable damage. In this context, our reasons for not building the thermal power plant, which were presented to the 2nd Review and Evaluation Meeting and have not been taken into consideration so far, are as follows:\u00a0<strong>(Atm\u0131\u015f, 2014):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cHema Integrated Thermal Power Plant Project;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong>\u00a0It will cause the economic structure of Bart\u0131n province to deteriorate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.<\/strong>\u00a0This project, which is dependent on foreign partners, foreign capital, foreign technology, imported coal and foreign workers, will increase foreign dependence on energy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.<\/strong>\u00a0There is no place for this power plant within the borders of Bart\u0131n in the Zonguldak-Bart\u0131n-Karab\u00fck Environmental Plan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4.<\/strong>\u00a0According to the regional development plan prepared by the Western Black Sea Development Agency (BAKKA), it is a threat to the local economy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.<\/strong>\u00a0It threatens the urban protected areas of Amasra and Bart\u0131n, as well as the K\u00fcre Mountains National Park, Turkey&#039;s first PANParks Certified national park.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6.<\/strong>\u00a0It will eliminate this feature of Amasra, which has been included in the UNESCO Temporary Heritage list.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7.<\/strong>\u00a0The location where the power plant will be built is among the &quot;regions where eco-tourism will be developed&quot; in the 2023 Turkey Tourism Strategy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8.\u00a0<\/strong>The region is shown as an &quot;Ecotourism-Focused Development Region&quot; in the 2007-2013 Tourism Action Plan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9.\u00a0<\/strong>In the SWOT Analysis prepared under the title of &quot;Environment and Forestry&quot; of Bart\u0131n 2023 Strategic Objectives and Provincial Development Plan; thermal power plants are seen as a threat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10.<\/strong>It requires the evacuation of Tarlaa\u011fz\u0131 and G\u00f6m\u00fc Villages and other nearby settlements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>11.<\/strong>\u00a0It threatens agricultural production in villages such as Karasu, G\u00fczelcehisar, Sarayl\u0131, G\u00fcrgenp\u0131nar\u0131, which practice greenhouse cultivation, strawberry and hazelnut farming.<\/p>\n<p><strong>12.\u00a0<\/strong>It threatens tourism activities in \u0130nkumu, Amasra, G\u00fczelcehisar, \u00c7akraz and other coastal settlements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13.<\/strong>\u00a0Even after 9 years, the investor company could not move on to the coal production phase.<\/p>\n<p><strong>14.\u00a0<\/strong>Although all the local people are against the thermal power plant, the situation is tried to be shown as the opposite with surveys and reports that do not reflect the truth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>15.\u00a0<\/strong>The company&#039;s EIA public participation meeting could not be held due to the reaction of thousands of people.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/amasra.com.tr\/en\/why-amasra-does-not-want-a-thermal-power-plant\/we-dont-want-thermal-power-in-amasra\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11153\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-11153 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/amasra.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/amasra-da-termik-istemiyoruz-230x230.jpg\" alt=\"we-don&#039;t-want-thermal-power-in-amasra\" width=\"230\" height=\"230\" srcset=\"https:\/\/amasra.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/amasra-da-termik-istemiyoruz-230x230.jpg 230w, https:\/\/amasra.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/amasra-da-termik-istemiyoruz-167x167.jpg 167w, https:\/\/amasra.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/amasra-da-termik-istemiyoruz-350x350.jpg 350w, https:\/\/amasra.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/amasra-da-termik-istemiyoruz-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/amasra.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/amasra-da-termik-istemiyoruz-50x50.jpg 50w, https:\/\/amasra.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/amasra-da-termik-istemiyoruz-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/amasra.com.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/amasra-da-termik-istemiyoruz.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 230px) 100vw, 230px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>16.<\/strong>\u00a0The company is having difficulty even finding a suitable place to hold an EIA Public Participation meeting in the region due to public reaction.<\/p>\n<p><strong>17.\u00a0<\/strong>The place where thermal power plants are planned to be built is a more suitable geography for wind power plants due to its high wind potential.<\/p>\n<p><strong>18.\u00a0<\/strong>Considering that the company plans to build two separate thermal power plants with a capacity of 2640 MW in the region, it needs to extract 13 million tons of coal annually from the existing mines. At best, only 1\/10 of this amount can be extracted annually from existing mines.<\/p>\n<p><strong>19.<\/strong>\u00a0For the reasons stated in the additional reports, it is clear that imported coal will be burned in the thermal power plant.<\/p>\n<p><strong>20.\u00a0<\/strong>The number of jobs announced to the public is unrealistic.<\/p>\n<p><strong>21.\u00a0<\/strong>The power plant will end tourism activities in the region, fishing, strawberries, hazelnuts, etc. agricultural activities and forest products will be damaged. Employment loss in these sectors is not taken into account.<\/p>\n<p><strong>22.<\/strong>\u00a0It is clear that cooling water will cause serious damage to the marine ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p><strong>23.\u00a0<\/strong>Damage to the marine ecosystem will cause damage to fishing activities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>24.\u00a0<\/strong>Since it will be used as an ash storage area by opening wells and galleries for coal mining, the &quot;Kav\u015fak Water Basin&quot;, which provides Bart\u0131n&#039;s drinking water, will be damaged, and the drinking water provided free of charge to the population of approximately 100 thousand people will be in danger.<\/p>\n<p><strong>25.<\/strong>\u00a0Yap\u0131lmas\u0131 planlanan des\u00fclf\u00fcrizasyon sistemi k\u00fck\u00fcrt ve k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck k\u00fcl par\u00e7alar\u0131n\u0131 %100 oranla tutamayaca\u011f\u0131 gibi, 1320 MW\u2019lik bir termik santralde y\u0131lda yakla\u015f\u0131k 4 milyon ton yanacak k\u00f6m\u00fcrden kaynaklanan azot oksitleri, karbon monoksit ve karbondioksiti, k\u00f6m\u00fcr ve k\u00fcldeki radyoaktif maddeleri filtre edecek bir sistemden bahsedilmiyor. Santral kaynakl\u0131 hava, toprak ve su kirlili\u011finin boyutlar\u0131 yeterince hesap edilmiyor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>26.\u00a0<\/strong>The allegedly scientific report about the &quot;inversion&quot; that will have fatal consequences determines that it is not dangerous only in the summer months when the inversion is at a low level. He does not make a clear determination about the other nine months in which inversion was seriously dangerous.<\/p>\n<p><strong>27.\u00a0<\/strong>There have not been enough studies on endemic and endangered plant and animal species in the region.<\/p>\n<p><strong>28.<\/strong>\u00a0The environmental damage that will be caused to the region by more than 10 thermal power plants installed and planned to be built on the Ere\u011fli Amasra line has not been taken into account.<\/p>\n<p><strong>29.<\/strong>\u00a0If ash storage facilities cannot be built in the junction water basin, approximately 650 thousand tons of ash will be dumped into the Black Sea annually.<\/p>\n<p><strong>30.<\/strong>\u00a0If the coal produced in Amasra is used in the thermal power plant, it is not explained where the annual 3 million tons of lavvar residue that will arise after the lavvaring process will be stored.<\/p>\n<p><strong>31.\u00a0<\/strong>The effects of thermal power plants on human health, such as bronchitis, emphysema, acute and chronic lung diseases and vascular diseases, as well as the damage they will cause to the psychological health of the society and the striking decreases in the quality of life, are not taken into account.<\/p>\n<p><strong>32.<\/strong>\u00a0The amount of natural forest area to be allocated as the power plant area is 380 hectares. Hundreds of hectares of natural forest ecosystem will be eliminated for the power plant building, limestone quarry and ash storage area, and intense land and landscape degradation will occur on the historical and touristic Amasra beaches.<\/p>\n<p><strong>33.<\/strong>\u00a0The port to be built for coal imports will destroy the Tarlaa\u011fz\u0131 beaches used by thousands of people in the summer, and the fishing shelter used by hundreds of fishermen will be destroyed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>34.\u00a0<\/strong>The EIA Application of the Western Black Sea Integrated Thermal Power Plant was not found suitable in terms of location selection, on the grounds that it was located in the same place as the Bart\u0131n Thermal Power Plant, which was not formatted in 2010.
