While the discussions about the mine planned to be mined in Artvin Cerattepe have been an important topic of discussion on the agenda, important information came from a meeting held in Ankara today. According to the information shared through Artvin Municipality, which was part of the delegation that met with Prime Minister Davutoğlu, mining activities were stopped in Cerattepe. The Prime Minister spoke about Cerattepe at the opening ceremony of 42 facilities in Konya.
Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu made statements about the mining facility in Artvin in his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony of 42 facilities in Konya.
Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu said that they have given the necessary assurances to environmentalists, non-governmental organizations and representatives of the local people regarding the Artvin Cerattepe copper mine, the construction of which has been stopped until the legal process is completed, but that they will definitely protect public order if the illegal demonstrations against the mine construction continue in the region.
Davutoğlu said, “I gave them some guarantees on behalf of our government. First of all, the works in Cerattepe will be stopped until the court decision is concluded. Everyone will respect the law... We will never allow this issue to be exploited. "The decision we made in Cerattepe shows the value we attach to the environment," he said.
