KAYRA Black Sea Yacht Rallyis an international nautical organization organized to promote the Black Sea coast and develop sailing and yacht tourism. In addition to the intensive yacht rally activities of the Aegean and Mediterranean regions, it is aimed to explore the Black Sea coast and bring it to tourism. History of KAYRA Black Sea Yacht Rally

1996
Preparatory work began at Ataköy Marina Yacht Club. The main aim was to break the perception of the Black Sea as a "difficult sea" and prove that it is suitable for yacht tourism.

1997
The first official Black Sea Yacht Rally was organized under the name "KAYRA". Setting off from Istanbul, 30 boats toured the Black Sea coasts for 2 months with participants from 10 different countries. Samsun stage Samsun Sailing Club was an important stop.

1998 - 1999
There were more professional organizations. With the support of then President Süleyman Demirel, many international participants, especially from Bulgaria and Ukraine, took part. The route started from Istanbul Danube River Europe and offered alternative routes for seafarers.

Some years in the 2000s, smaller rallies were organized. During this period, infrastructure and preparations were at the forefront.

2004
There was a big comeback. 54 boats and new guest countries participated in a comprehensive rally. The route started from Istanbul; Georgia, Russian Federation, Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria covered 33 ports in countries such as Ministry of Culture and Tourism The 5-day stopover was made in Samsun with the support of Samsun and the participants had the opportunity to visit many historical and touristic places in Turkey, especially Ankara.
