BARTIN
The source of the name Bartın is "Parthenios", the old name of the Bartın Stream in the city. It means "God of Waters or Magnificent flowing water". Known as "Parthenia", the city changed its name to Bartın over time.
Bartın is a city with historical values and natural beauties. The old wooden Bartın houses in its alleys and narrow streets, being one of the entrance points of the Küre Mountains National Park, and having archaeological historical values, are one of the most beautiful cities of the Black Sea to visit.
Transport
Bartın is a province of great importance in terms of tourism. Transportation to the city is usually done via highways. The highway providing transportation reaches Çaycuma – Devrek (Zonguldak), Mengen – Yeniçağa (Bolu) in the west and Safranbolu (Karabük – Gerede (Bolu) in the south) and the E-80 highway and E-5 state road. .
Bartin houses
Bartın houses reflect the civilian examples of the Ottoman Period. It has nothing to do with Safranbolu houses. Houses are usually two or three stories high and have as many windows as possible. The windows, ceilings and stairs of the houses are decorative elements.(Photo)
Bartin Wire Breaking
It was seen for the first time between 1890-1900. It has been carried to the present day with the integration of the taste, feelings and thoughts of the local people. Young girls dressed in Bartın's local wedding attire used to sit on a high place in the bride's house and exhibit their clothes, and the head covering is wire writing. Kemal Samancıoğlu Ethnography Museum
Kemal Samancıoğlu donated his house to Bartın Municipality before he died. The museum, which was started to convey the services and works of Kemal Samancıoğlu, was opened on April 29, 2008, by requesting the donation of historical and old items worth exhibiting in the hands of the public.
Where to Visit in Bartın?
AMASRA
There is a promontory extending towards the sea, two bays on both sides of the cape that serve as sheltered harbors, and independent islands connected to the mainland. It is one of the places worth seeing with its uniquely beautiful forested areas that contain local arts, historical ruins and places. It is also the hometown of the late artist Barış Akarsu. You can provide transportation by minibuses departing every half an hour from Bartın Old Terminal.
Amasra Museum
The museum has a single storey and has four exhibition halls, two of which are archaeological and two are ethnographic. Most of the works were excavated from Amasra and its surroundings. Artifacts from the Hellenistic, Byzantine, Genoese and Ottoman periods are exhibited in the garden of the museum.
Amasra Castle
Amasra Castle, which belongs to the Byzantine period, underwent changes especially during the Genoese period and underwent serious repairs in the Genoese and Ottoman periods in the 14th-15th centuries. It has been included in the World Temporary Heritage List by UNESCO.

Weeping Tree
It is located in Boztepe and the reason why the tree is crying is the drizzle of its leaves due to the humidity. You can sip your tea and coffee against the view in the tea garden located there.
Rabbit Island by boat
You can take a tour of Amasra with the excursion boat in the port, or you can arrange a private tour for yourself if you agree with the boat owners. You can discover a different side of Amasra with boat tours, and see Rabbit Island, Kemere Bridge, Historical Harbor and Pirate Cave from a different perspective.
NATION
It is 37 km east of Bartın. Ulus, which has changed three provinces so far, was connected to Bartın when Bartın became a province. It is possible to see every shade of green here. You can provide transportation by minibuses departing from the center of Bartın. You can also stop by Azdavay-Pınarbaşı district by the highway going to Ulus. (Azdavay-Ulus road can be mentioned)
Uluyayla
"Uluyayla", which is 33 km away from the center of Ulus, is one of the places that attract attention with its natural beauties. It is very suitable for trekking and off-road enthusiasts with its lush green nature areas, lush forests with tall trees, and rough terrain. In particular, you can see bats in the cave located near the entrance of the plateau.
Ulukaya Waterfall
It is 17 km from Ulus town. away and on the Ulus Stream. The waterfall is formed by the falling of the water coming out of a 10 meter wide rock cavity from a height of 20 meters. The waterfall comes out of a canyon and this canyon is approximately 1 km. is long. Transportation is provided by Drahna in the form of a half tunnel in the canyon.
Kure Mountains National Park
Küre Mountains National Park is a national park located on the Küre Mountains in the west of the Black Sea Region. The park is within the borders of Kastamonu and Bartın provinces. Especially the canyons of Horma, Valla, Çatak and Aydos, which are located within the borders of the national park, form an interesting and special ecosystem among themselves. Valla canyon is a very difficult point to reach with its walls over 1000 meters and strong winds blowing in the form of storms. Another natural formation within the borders of the national park is Ilgarini Cave. With all these features, the park, which has an important place among nature walk places in Turkey, received the Pan Parks certificate on October 8, 2012.
GUZELCEHISAR
Güzelcehisar got its name from Güzelcekız who lived in the Ottoman Period. When you say Güzelcehisar, the first thing that comes to mind is "lava columns". They are over 30 meters tall. It is included in the Geological Heritage Inventory Recommendations in Turkey and is one of the rarest developed formations in the world.
Its distance to Bartın is 17 km. Transportation is provided by minibuses at Inkum stops. But when you go by minibus, you have to stay there for one day. It is a suitable place for campers. There is Güzelcehisar Castle and you can go to the castle from the footpath. It is one of the important places waiting to be discovered with its natural beauties and sea.
MUGADA
Transportation from Bartın is provided by minibuses located in the center. Transportation is approximately 45 minutes. in progress. You can see the most beautiful harmony of blue and green here. It is one of the places to be seen in summer with its picnic areas, tent camping places and clean sand. With the landscapes it offers, you can capture many different frames for photography enthusiasts.
Kurucasile
It is a coastal town bordered by the headlands of Zeytin and Sandal, 62 km northeast of Bartın. The coastal road is very bumpy and winding. Transportation takes approximately 1.5 hours by minibuses departing from the center. Tekkeönü Bay, whose nature has not been destroyed yet, is one of the places worth seeing every shade of green and the blue of the sea. It is a small shipbuilding industry town famous for boat and yacht building. There are many beaches in Kurucaşile and these beaches are very clean.
Gölderesi Waterfall
It is one of the unique natural beauties worth seeing. A suitable place for those who want to camp.
Local foods: People's outlook on life, traditions and customs, cooking techniques and climate play a big part. Bartın dishes consist of meat, vegetable, milk, pastry, soup, olive oil and dessert varieties.
